CC491K Brass Casting – LG2 Red Brass EN 1982
CC491K (EN 1982 designation for CuSn5Pb5Zn5-C) is the European standard designation for the LG2 / C83600 red brass / gunmetal casting alloy – the most corrosion-resistant of the commercial brass casting grades. EN 1982 CC491K is equivalent to US C83600, UK LG2, IS 318 LTB1, DIN CuSn5Pb5Zn5-C, and is the foundry industry’s first choice for potable water valves, plumbing fittings, marine hardware, and electrical cable gland bodies in demanding environments.
Alloy Overview
CC491K per EN 1982 specifies the same composition as C83600: Cu 83–86%, Sn 4–6%, Pb 4–6%, Zn 4–6%. The four-component alloy chemistry is carefully balanced to deliver maximum pressure tightness (essential for valve and fitting service), excellent machinability, dezincification immunity, and WRAS-compatible corrosion resistance. Electrical Accessories India produces CC491K castings to EN 1982 with EN 10204 3.1 certificates.

Applications
CC491K castings: WRAS-approved potable water valve bodies; plumbing ball valves, gate valves, check valves; pressure fittings and manifolds; pump casings for water service; marine through-hull fittings and sea cocks; electrical cable gland bodies and terminal housings in humid environments; steam and condensate fittings rated to PN25; and general pressure castings for water and gas service.
