AB2 Bronze Casting
AB2 Bronze Casting – C95400 | UNS C95400 | BS 1400 AB2 | CuAl10Fe3 | CC331G
AB2 Aluminum Bronze (C95400, UNS C95400, BS 1400 AB2, DIN 1714 CuAl10Fe3, EN 1982 CC331G, IS 318 Gr.2, ISO 428 CuAl10Fe3, JIS H5111 AlBC2) is the most widely specified high-strength aluminum bronze casting grade for demanding engineering applications. With 10.0–11.5% aluminium and 3.0–5.0% iron, AB2 develops a predominantly beta-phase microstructure at room temperature, delivering substantially higher tensile strength and hardness than the binary AB1 grade. Electrical Accessories India manufactures AB2 / C95400 castings for marine, oil and gas, electrical, and heavy industrial sectors, supplying to 30+ countries with full ASTM B148 certification.
Product Overview
Alloy Composition and Metallurgy
At 10–11.5% aluminium, the AB2 / C95400 alloy is predominantly in the alpha-beta or fully beta microstructural region. The beta phase is significantly harder than the alpha phase, accounting for the alloy’s superior wear resistance and tensile strength compared to AB1. The iron addition (3–5%) further refines grain structure, suppresses grain growth during solidification, and improves both hardness uniformity and fatigue strength. AB2 exhibits excellent resistance to cavitation erosion, making it the standard alloy for impellers, propeller hubs, and pump internals in aggressive service. The alloy’s self-healing aluminium oxide film provides excellent resistance to seawater, industrial cooling water, brine, and mildly acidic process streams.

Applications
AB2 / C95400 aluminum bronze castings serve the most demanding corrosion-wear applications across multiple industries. In oil and gas, AB2 is used for non-sparking valve bodies, gate valve internals, wellhead manifold components, and subsea connector housings. In marine and offshore, it is specified for sea water pump bodies, ship propeller hubs, rudder bearings, bow thruster components, and desalination valve bodies. In the power and electrical sector, AB2 castings are used for HV switchgear components, transformer terminal blocks, earthing clamps rated for aggressive industrial environments, and cable gland bodies in ATEX Zone 1 applications. The superior wear resistance makes AB2 the alloy of choice for worm wheels, gear blanks, bearing sleeves, and planetary gear components.
