IS 318 LTB2 Brass Casting – Leaded Tin Brass Grade 2
IS 318 LTB2 (Leaded Tin Brass Grade 2) is an intermediate Indian standard brass casting grade with copper content between LTB1 (red brass) and LTB3 (yellow brass). Containing approximately 74–79% copper with tin (2–4%), lead (2–4%), and zinc balance, IS 318 LTB2 provides better corrosion resistance than standard yellow brass while being less expensive than LTB1/LG2 red brass. Used for plumbing hardware, gas valve bodies, commercial casting applications, and general engineering fittings in the Indian market.
Alloy Overview
IS 318 LTB2 (Cu 74–79%, Sn 2–4%, Pb 2–4%, Zn balance ~15–22%) has sufficient copper content to resist dezincification in normal municipal water supply conditions. The tin and lead additions provide pressure tightness and machinability respectively. This grade is intermediate between LTB1 (high corrosion resistance, higher cost) and LTB3 (lower cost, lower corrosion resistance), and is suitable for PN16–PN20 fitting applications in non-aggressive water environments.
