CC770S Aluminium Brass Casting – CuZn25Al5
CC770S Aluminium Brass Casting – CuZn25Al5
CC770S (EN 1982 / CuZn25Al5-C) is an aluminium-bearing brass casting alloy with significant aluminium (4–6%) additions that produce a multi-phase microstructure (alpha + kappa phases) delivering high strength (420 MPa), excellent erosion-corrosion resistance, and improved seawater resistance compared to standard yellow brass or naval brass. CC770S is used for impellers in high-velocity pumping applications, marine trim, and structural components where both strength and resistance to impingement attack are required.
Alloy Overview
The 4–6% aluminium addition in CC770S creates alpha + kappa (AlCu₃) phase intermetallics in the microstructure, increasing tensile strength to 420 MPa and significantly improving erosion-corrosion resistance (critical in high-velocity fluid handling). The aluminium also forms a protective Al₂O₃ surface film enhancing atmospheric and seawater corrosion resistance. CC770S is harder (90–120 HB) than standard yellow brass and requires carbide or coated tooling for machining.
