C36500 Brass Forgings | Leaded Muntz Metal | UNS C36500
C36500 Brass Forgings | Leaded Muntz Metal | UNS C36500
C36500 (UNS C36500) — commercially known as Leaded Muntz Metal — is a 60-40 alpha-beta brass with a small lead addition (0.25–0.7%) to improve machinability over the unleaded C28000 Muntz Metal. The 60/40 copper-zinc ratio gives C36500 an entirely beta-phase structure at forging temperatures, making it highly plastic and suitable for forging large, complex shapes including condenser tube sheets, heat exchanger end plates, ship hull valve bodies, large-bore valve bodies, and structural hardware components. C36500 offers higher strength than alpha brasses but lower than leaded alpha-beta alloys, with excellent corrosion resistance in marine and freshwater environments. Electrical Accessories India produces C36500 forgings for heat exchanger, marine, and industrial valve applications.

Applications of C36500 Brass Forgings
C36500 forgings are used in applications where large-section, high-strength brass components are needed with moderate machinability: condenser tube sheet forgings for heat exchangers; ship hull valve bodies and seacock bodies; large-bore gate and globe valve bodies for industrial piping (DN50–DN200); heat exchanger end cap forgings; architectural hardware; bridge bearing plates; large flanged fitting bodies; and industrial pump impeller housings where brass is specified over iron. C36500 is specified in ASTM B124 forging stock and ASTM B283 die forgings standards.
- Heat exchanger tube sheet forgings and end plate components
- Marine valve bodies: seacocks, kingston valves, sea chest valves
- Large-bore industrial valve bodies: gate, globe, check (DN50–DN200)
- Pump housing and impeller forgings in corrosive fluid service
- Architectural structural hardware and bearing components
- Condenser tube sheet blanks for power station and marine condensers
