C34000 Brass Forgings | Medium-Leaded Brass 64-1 | UNS C34000
C34000 Brass Forgings | Medium-Leaded Brass | UNS C34000
C34000 (UNS C34000) — Medium-Leaded Brass — is a 64% copper alloy with moderate lead content (0.8–1.5%) that offers a balanced combination of corrosion resistance, moderate machinability, and good strength. The higher copper content (versus C36000 and C37700) results in a predominantly alpha-phase structure, providing better corrosion resistance than the higher-zinc forgeable alloys while maintaining adequate machinability for CNC production. C34000 is produced as forged blanks and simple closed-die forgings for applications requiring better corrosion resistance than 60-40 brass with good machined surface quality: instrument bodies, pressure gauge fittings, pneumatic and hydraulic fittings in corrosive environments, hardware components, and plumbing fittings. Specified per ASTM B453 (free-cutting brass rod) and ASTM B124.

Applications of C34000 Forged Blanks
C34000 forged blanks are CNC-machined for: pressure instrument fittings (gauge valves, manifold fittings) where corrosion resistance is more important than maximum machining speed; pneumatic fitting bodies in corrosive industrial environments; hydraulic union bodies; plumbing stop cock bodies; hardware fasteners; small flanged fitting bodies; lock components; and electrical fittings where higher copper content provides better reliability in humid or mildly corrosive conditions. C34000 is preferred over C36000 when the service environment is mildly corrosive and the extra machining time is acceptable for improved service life.
- Pressure instruments: gauge valve bodies, manifold fittings, test point bodies
- Pneumatic: fitting bodies in aggressive environments, filter regulator bodies
- Hydraulic: union bodies, elbow fittings, pressure test points
- Hardware: lock cylinders, padlock shackles, cabinet fittings
- Plumbing: stop cock bodies, service valve stems, compression fittings in aggressive water
- Electrical: terminal bodies, earthing clamps, cable cleats
