C36000 Brass Forgings | Free-Cutting Brass | UNS C36000 (CDA 360)

C36000 (UNS C36000, CDA 360) — universally recognized as the benchmark “Free-Cutting Brass” with a machinability index of 100% — is used for forged blanks and open-die forgings where maximum CNC machinability is the primary requirement. While C36000 is primarily a screw-machine alloy (bar stock), it is also produced as forged blanks and simple open-die forgings for components requiring superior surface finish and tightest dimensional tolerances after machining. With 35.5% zinc and 2.5–3.7% lead, C36000 produces the shortest, most fragmented chips of any copper alloy, enabling high-speed CNC turning at cutting speeds of 100–200 m/min with minimal tool wear. Electrical Accessories India supplies C36000 forged blanks and CNC-machined precision components to instrument, valve, and electronics markets globally.

Applications of C36000 Forged Blanks

C36000 forged blanks are produced for applications requiring maximum machinability: precision valve stems and bonnets; instrument body blanks; small manifold blocks; gauge connection bodies; pneumatic valve internals; electrical connector bodies; precision metering device bodies; and medical gas equipment components. C36000 is NOT generally used for heavy pressure-rated valve bodies (C37700/CW617N is preferred for those); it is the alloy of choice when CNC machining speed and surface finish quality outweigh forging complexity considerations.

  • Valve stem and bonnet blanks (CNC-turned from C36000 forged rounds)
  • Instrument valve bodies: needle valves, metering valves, gauge valves
  • Pneumatic valve internals: spools, seats, poppets
  • Electrical: terminal bodies, connector inserts, bus bar connectors
  • Precision manifold blocks for instrumentation
  • Medical gas valve bodies (where lead content is acceptable per specification)
