CW712R Brass Forgings | EN Naval Brass | CuZn36Sn1Pb (EN 12167)
CW712R (CuZn36Sn1Pb) is the European EN 12167 designation for naval brass — a ternary alloy of copper, zinc, and tin with a small lead addition for machinability, equivalent to ASTM C46400 and C48200. The tin content (0.70–1.30%) acts as a dezincification inhibitor in mildly saline environments, substantially improving corrosion resistance versus standard alpha-beta brass in marine service. CW712R is the preferred forging alloy for European shipbuilding and offshore engineering where EN material certification is required: BS EN 12167, Lloyd’s Register of Shipping (LR), Bureau Veritas (BV), DNV GL, and Germanischer Lloyd certification are available. Electrical Accessories India manufactures CW712R naval brass forgings for European maritime and offshore customers with full classification society documentation.

Applications of CW712R Naval Brass Forgings
CW712R naval brass forgings are specified for European maritime applications: seacock valve bodies and sea valve bodies per BS EN ISO 9001 and Lloyd’s Register; ship propeller shaft bearing housings; offshore platform valve bodies for seawater cooling and injection systems; marine heat exchanger tube sheet forgings; naval deck hardware complying with BS EN standards; harbour and dock hardware; desalination plant valve bodies (SWRO intake, brine discharge); and offshore Christmas tree components in mild seawater service. CW712R is particularly valued in EU export markets where EN material designations are mandatory.
- Seacock and sea valve bodies (Lloyd’s, BV, DNV GL approved)
- Marine pump bearing housings and impeller housings
- Offshore valve bodies: seawater cooling, injection, fire systems
- Heat exchanger tube sheet forgings for marine condensers
- Naval deck hardware: cleats, fairleads, chocks (BS EN 1561)
- Desalination plant (SWRO, MSF) valve and fitting bodies
