CW724R Brass Forgings | Aluminium Brass | CuZn20Al2As

CW724R Brass Forgings | Aluminium Brass | CuZn20Al2As (EN 12167)

CW724R (CuZn20Al2As, EN 12167) — Aluminium Brass — is a specialist alloy combining brass with 2% aluminium and arsenic (dezincification inhibitor) that achieves significantly superior corrosion resistance in seawater, high-velocity marine environments, and condensate service compared to naval brass (CW712R/C46400). The aluminium addition strengthens the protective oxide film on the brass surface, making CW724R the alloy of choice for heat exchanger tube sheets, condenser tube sheets, and marine component forgings in aggressive seawater and coastal environments. The arsenic addition ensures dezincification resistance per ISO 6509. CW724R is the European EN equivalent of ASTM C68700 (Aluminium Brass) and achieves the highest corrosion resistance of any forgeable brass alloy. Electrical Accessories India manufactures CW724R forgings for power station, naval, and offshore customers.

Applications of CW724R Aluminium Brass Forgings

CW724R aluminium brass forgings are used in the most demanding marine and corrosive service environments: power station condenser tube sheet forgings (once-through seawater cooling); naval heat exchanger tube sheet forgings; offshore platform heat exchanger end cap forgings; desalination (MSF, MED) evaporator tube sheet forgings; coastal industrial heat exchanger components; ship propulsion heat exchanger components; chemical process heat exchanger headers in halide environments; and any application where seawater velocity or turbulence would cause erosion-corrosion on standard naval brass. The aluminium addition forms an aluminium-rich passive film that resists impingement attack at high fluid velocities up to 2.4 m/s.

  • Power station condenser tube sheets (seawater cooled, once-through systems)
  • Naval and marine heat exchanger tube sheet forgings
  • Offshore platform heat exchanger headers and end caps
  • Desalination plant (MSF, MED) evaporator and condenser components
  • Chemical process heat exchanger headers (chloride-containing media)
  • Marine pump casings and impeller housings in high-velocity seawater service
