C87600 Silicon Brass Casting
C87600 (UNS C87600, CDA 876, High-Silicon Brass) is a lead-free silicon brass casting alloy with elevated silicon content (3.5–5.5%) and high copper (88–92%). The high Si content provides exceptional strength (400–460 MPa), outstanding fluidity for precision casting, and excellent corrosion resistance in both fresh water and mild chemical environments. C87600 is favoured for lead-free potable water fittings, marine hardware, and precision castings requiring high strength without the corrosion limitations of standard yellow brass.
Alloy Overview
With Si at 3.5–5.5%, C87600 develops a complex alpha + kappa phase microstructure that delivers the highest tensile strength of the silicon brass casting series. The very low zinc content (3–5%) combined with high Si ensures complete resistance to dezincification. Lead-free (Pb max 0.05%) by design, C87600 complies with all modern lead-free water fitting regulations and is an excellent candidate for NSF 61 and WRAS applications.
