C87800 Silicon Brass Casting – Everdur
C87800 Silicon Brass Casting – Everdur
C87800 (UNS C87800, CDA 878, Everdur Silicon Brass, also known as CC751S, CuZn15Si3-C in EN 1982) is a premium lead-free silicon brass casting alloy combining high copper (80–85%), moderate zinc (12–16%), and silicon (1.5–3.5%). Known commercially as “Everdur,” C87800 delivers excellent corrosion resistance in seawater and industrial atmospheres, high strength (450 MPa), attractive golden colour, and lead-free compliance, making it the preferred brass casting for marine architectural hardware, premium decorative components, and high-specification plumbing and fluid handling applications.
Alloy Overview
C87800 Everdur’s silicon content (1.5–3.5%) provides a dense SiO₂ surface film that gives outstanding resistance to seawater corrosion, atmospheric tarnish, and mild chemical attack. The higher copper content vs standard yellow brass ensures no dezincification. Tensile strength of 450–510 MPa (gravity die) is the highest of common brass casting grades with attractive appearance. Fully lead-free (Pb max 0.05%), C87800 complies with NSF/ANSI 61, WRAS, and EU potable water directives.
