CW602N (CuZn36Pb2As, also known as DZR brass or dezincification-resistant brass) is a specialist forging alloy containing arsenic (As) as a dezincification inhibitor, making it the approved alloy for potable water fittings in the UK (WRAS approval), Germany (DVGW worksheet W543), and the EU (EN 1254 for drinking water). The arsenic content (0.02–0.15%) suppresses the selective leaching of zinc from brass in aggressive water environments (soft water, low pH, high chloride). CW602N is the mandatory alloy for brass compression fittings, valve bodies, and meter bodies used in potable water installations in the UK, Germany, Netherlands, and Scandinavian markets.
